Group Shot of Teachers from CITGO Fueling Education with Steve Spangler

North Elementary Wins CITGO Fueling Education Visit from Steve Spangler

Are you sure you have the right number? Did I really win the sweepstakes?

Megan Wilder from North Elementary was a little unsure when she received the news from the CITGO Fueling Education program coordinator. Megan was one of 70,000 sweepstake entries for a chance to receive a full-day of professional development from Steve Spangler Science for her school and a $5,000 gift certificate for related school supplies. “Yes… you are the winner!”

CITGO created the Fueling Education program in 2012 to help foster educational opportunities in classrooms across the nation. Since then, CITGO has donated more than $250,000 in much-needed classroom supplies with support from customers. This year alone, more than 400 teachers are being awarded vouchers for school supplies.

Steve and his Hands-on Science Boot Camp team visited North Elementary in Prince George, Virginia on October 15, 2016, armed with science lessons and STEM activities for teachers K-8 to experience first hand… and they did!

“The best part of the day is watching teachers become the students as they conduct their own experiments and make their own discoveries,” said Steve Spangler who shares his Hands-on Science Boot Camp experience with more than 20,000 educators in school districts throughout the country each year. “My job is to start by creating an unforgettable learning experience for the teacher and to unleash their own passion for making science fun for their students.”

Our thanks to the district administrators, support staff and teachers who joined Steve for a day filled with hands-on learning.
