Steve Spangler Kicks-off the USA Science & Engineering Festival with a Bang!

Over 350,000 students, parents, teachers and science enthusiasts of all ages met in Washington D.C. (April 7-8, 2018) to engage in hands-on activities with some of the biggest names in STEM. Participants explored over 3,000 hands-on exhibits from the world’s leading scientific and engineering societies, universities, government agencies, high-tech corporations and STEM organizations.

Steve Spangler kicked off the line-up of stage shows on Saturday morning with some of his favorite science demonstrations he created for the Ellen Show.

“The best part of the event for me is getting to meet so many people who are in love with science,” said Spangler, host of his own do-it-yourself science series on FOX called DIY Sci. “There’s much talk about ‘planting seeds’ as we use experiences like this to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. I just want to thank the thousands of parents, grandparents and teachers who continue to water these seeds by attending events like this.”

The USA Science and Engineering Festival was the brain-child of Larry Bock. Larry founded the San Diego Science Festival in 2009 and then, with the partnership of Expo Sponsor Lockheed Martin and the support of other organizations, the inaugural USA Science & Engineering Festival Expo took place in Washington, D.C in 2010. The Expo has continued, unbelievably bigger and better every other year since then.

“The Festival focuses on meeting a critical need in America:  motivating and invigorating the next generation of young innovators about science and engineering and, at the same time, expanding the public’s appreciation and understanding of science and technology.” – Larry Bock
