The Nido & Mariana Children’s Museum Hosts Hands-on Workshop for Elementary Educators
During a hands-on teacher workshop hosted by the Nido & Mariana Qubein Children’s Museum in High Point, North Carolina, we had a great time working with educators and administrators from Guilford and Randolph counties. Our focus was on developing high-level engagement strategies to inspire students to think more like scientists.
Why are these workshop experiences so transformative? The secret to professional development experiences that really work is to create a learning environment where teachers can rekindle their child-like enthusiasm for wonder, discovery and exploration. The goal is always to teach the REAL elements of STEM – communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.
As you can see in the photos, this wasn’t your typical “5 points and a poem” workshop where teachers fall asleep after the 87th PowerPoint slide. When teachers are laughing and learning, our students benefit from re-imagined instruction and learning opportunities.
