DENVER, COLORADO—Over 11,000 students and teachers attended the 13th annual STEM Day event at Coors Field on April 25, 2024. The event was hosted by the Colorado Rockies and Steve Spangler to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers with eye-catching demonstrations and lessons that showcase the elements of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
“STEM Day is a wonderful opportunity to bring students, parents, and teachers together to celebrate all things STEM,” says Steve Spangler, STEM educator and television host of DIY Sci. “Our number one goal for the event is to plant seeds in the minds of these young learners about future opportunities in all kinds of STEM-related fields and careers.”
During the program, Steve Spangler featured some of his largest and loudest science experiments to get the audience fired up and ready to explore all things STEM.
This year’s presenting partners included Arrow Electronics, Neurodiversity Works, Jeffco Schools, Sky Elements Drones, and the Air Force Wings of Blue, to name a few.
Scientists from Arrow Electronics showcased the technology behind their modified car, which allows a qualified quadriplegic driver to operate it under race track conditions. Sky Elements Drones gave everyone a behind-the-scenes look at the STEM skills required to create a daytime drone show. The scientists at Neurodiversity Works teamed up with Steve Spangler and students from Jeffco Schools for a never-before-seen egg drop competition. The United States Air Force Wings of Blue parachute team surprised everyone with five jumpers who provided a picture-perfect landing at Coors Field to a rousing standing ovation!
Our daughter was able to attend STEM day today and she was very excited to see the female parachuters- “I want to do that!” “They are girls!” Please pass along my gratitude to Steve, the Rockies and the Air Force parachute team. One 5 year old girl came home inspired- mission accomplished.

The Colorado Rockies share Steve Spangler’s vision for inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers by hosting this event for the past 13 years. “It’s great to be able to use the popularity of baseball and the Colorado Rockies to draw science enthusiasts of all ages to the ball park and to focus their attention for a few minutes on the wonders of science,” says Ryan Tapp, Manager of Group Sales for the Rockies.
