About Steve Spangler
Ask Steve Spangler what he does, and you’ll get a two-word answer. Science teacher. The Emmys, the nine books, and the 4.5 billion video views are part of the job.
What most people don’t know is how long he’s been doing this work with the youngest learners. For nearly thirty years, Steve has been a featured speaker at early childhood conferences across the country, from the National Association for the Education of Young Children to its state affiliates in Washington, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Florida, New York, and dozens more. Frog Street honored him with a lifetime achievement award at its national Splash conference, recognizing two decades of helping early childhood educators fall in love with teaching science.
He started in an elementary classroom in the Cherry Creek schools and built a career on one idea: curiosity is easier to spark when a child has something to do. His latest book, The Engagement Effect (Forefront Books, 2025), is the playbook behind that career. Today he serves as STEM Educator in Residence at High Point University. He still gets the same kick out of watching a four-year-old lean in.
